J&K Police on late Monday evening said that it arrested four persons allegedly involved in stone pelting incident on Sunday.

“Four miscreants involved in pelting stones on the civilian vehicles and injuring the civilians including some Hajis returning to their homes after completion of  Haj Pilgrimage on national highway at Singhpora,” JKP spokesperson said in a statement.

“On 25th Sept 2016, at about 1900 hours, while the normal flow of traffic was going on at Srinagar-Baramulla Highway, some stone pelters attacked few vehicles at Singhpora Pattan, resulting injuries to some people boarding the vehicles. Among injured were some Hajjis returning to their homes after completion of Hajj Pilgrimage,” the police spokesperson said.

“Police immediately swung into action and arrested four stone pelters involved in the crime. They were identified as Ishfaq Waza, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Bagwan Pora Singhproa; Aamir Ganaie, son of Khazir Ganaie, resident of Hartrath; Umar din Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Bagwanpora  and  Munir Bhat, son of Manzoor Ahmad, resident of Singhpora were arrested  on spot,” the spokesperson added.

“Case FIR No 248/2016 under section 148, 149, 336, 332, 307, 427 RPC has been registered in Police Station Pattan in this regard. Efforts are on to arrest more miscreants involved in this incident who are still at large,” it added.
