Late night tensions have resurfaced in Kishtwar as cops raided at a few places to make arrests. There were protests as well indicating curfew restrictions may continue in the sensitive Chenab Valley township.

Reports from the town said cops raided the residence of a sheep husbandry employee Aijaz Ahmad Kelum at Faridia Road. He was arrest under sedition charges.

Soon after the locality broke out in protests, reports said. Police had to charge the mobs using lathi-charge. Injuries to a few persons were not immediately confirmed.

Last night as well three persons were arrested of whom two were booked under Public Safety Act. The government has rushed reinforcements to the town to maintain law and order that is frequently getting disrupted because of raids and subsequent arrests. Police are looking for around 22 people from the sensitive township. Because of these tensions, Kishtwar was perhaps the only spot in J&K that remained under curfew on Sunday.
