Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday squarely targeted Pakistan, saying India will not forget the “sacrifices of 18 soldiers” killed in the Uri attack and will work to isolate Pakistan globally “for exporting terror”.

Addressing the BJP National Council meet in Kozhikode in South Indian state of Kerala this evening, Modi said that the Pakistan government was “misleading” its people on Kashmir.

He said Pakistani leaders had been talking of a “thousand years’ war” with India. “Let me tell you that there is a government in Delhi that accepts your challenge.”

However, he mellowed down the rhetoric, saying both countries should “fight the war”, but against poverty, unemployment and illiteracy — and “let’s see who wins”.

His reaction came in the backdrop of deadliest attack on Uri in which 18 soldiers were killed on the morning of September 18, 2016.

Accusing Pakistan of being a “centre of terrorism”, Modi dedicated almost 20 minutes of his over 50 minute speech towards Pakistan.

Top BJP leadership including L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Ram Madhav and almost all BJP Chief Ministers and other ministers were present on the occasion including J&K Dy Cm Dr Nirmal Singh.

Observing that terrorism was enemy of humanity, Modi in his direct address to people of Pakistan said that India and Pakistan got freedom same day.

“There were 17 incidents of militant attacks supported by neighbour this year in J&K,” he told the audience which understood only Malayalam and Modi’s speech was being translated after every sentence, almost.

“Our soldiers foiled infiltration bids along LoC and killed more than 110 militants,” he said, “our soldiers saved our boundaries and nation.” “This nation of 125 crore population is proud of our military.

He said that India’s “neighbour succeeded in one attempt and the attackers killed 18 Indian soldiers”.

“You can understand the damages done if these 17 incidents had been successful on the part of militants,” he told the audience.

“The rulers of neighbours (Pakistan) would say that they will fight for a thousand year,” he said, “Where have they gone today. These rulers speak the speeches written by militants.”

Modi in his veiled attack on Pakistan said, “the country cannot handle PaK, Sindh, Gilgit, Pakhtunis, Balochistan but it is misleading its people by talking about (this) Kashmir.” He also referred to creation of Bangladesh.

“Both nations were freed at same time; India is exporting software and Pakistan exporting terrorism? What is the reason?” Modi told the people of Pakistan and asked them that they should hold their government accountable on this account.

“I accept challenge what Pakistan rulers says that they will fight for thousands of years,” he said and the silent audience responded as the voices from the Keralites could be heard at this point. “Come and let us fight; let us fight poverty, let us fight unemployment, let us fight for illiteracy, malnutrition and let us see who wins.”

He further said that India has been “successful to isolate Pakistan” “Day is not far away, Pakistan will be isolated and forced to live in isolation.”

He told the audience that he sees future of Indians as “future of Peace, unity and cooperation”.

“Today, 125 crore population of India is ready to fight for unity of India and we will save our country,” he added.
