National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Saturday ridiculed PDP-BJP dispensation for showing high degree of intolerance to dissent and aversion to peaceful protests, saying this amounts to gauging democratic voice in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued to KNS, Rana said, “while spree of arrests has become a norm in Kashmir, the government has heavily come down on the helpless striking need-based workers of PHE, PDD and other departments, who are just reminding the coalition about their promise of regularizing them.”

He described the present government as anti-employee, saying the insensitive dispensation has failed in satiating their urges and aspirations.

The Provincial President said that failure in meeting the aspirations of people and restoring normalcy in the trouble-torn Valley has frustrated the government to such an extent that it was now resorting to most inhuman tactics to establish its authority.

“The so-called moral grandstanding has fallen into bits and pieces and the real face of the coalition is haunting those who supported them during elections,” he said.

He said the people were realizing the folly of reposing their faith in the parties which are not only self-centric but anti-people as well.

He said mis-governance of the past over two-years has pushed Jammu and Kashmir decades back in respect of development and welfare of the people. “Due to wrong policies of the opportunistic alliance, the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are completely feeling alienated.”

“Kashmir is bleeding for the past two and half month with government clueless how to tackle the situation”, he said, adding that despite making a promise to address the political issues confronted to the State in the “so-called” Agenda of Alliance, “no forward movement has been made so far. “As a result, human sufferings have touched lowest depths in the Valley,” he said.

Rana said that Kashmir crisis has impacted governance in all the three regions and the people are being made to suffer on all fronts.

He said the coalition partners were working at cross purposes, as a result of which the problems of the people have accumulated manifold.

The Provincial President urged the people to maintain vigil against frustrated political outfits, who in a rage of frustration on account of failure of the government, may try to create wedge between various segments of society in order to divert attention from current crisis. “We have to foil all these attempts collectively by ensuring amity and tranquillity,” he maintained.
