A private restaurant-cum-guest house was damaged allegedly by police and CRPF men on late Friday night.
Mohammad Amin Shaikh, owner of Hotel Blue Spring, Verinag told Kashmir Life that a forces party raided his restaurant around 10 PM last night.
“My son and another person were sleeping in second storey of the hotel and they had locked it from inside,” Shaikh said.
“The forces party threw stones and damaged the doors, windows and furniture of the hotel,” he said. The restaurant was recently constructed.
However, he said, “they could not enter the hotel as it was locked but damages done by forces range from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.”
“The forces action was completely unprovoked,” he said.
Meanwhile, locals in Verinag held protests against the “atrocities” done by forces.
