The residents of Nowgam-Shahabad came out on roads on Monday demanding release of a local youth.

Correspondent reports said that hundreds of men, women and children came out on roads amid pro-freedom slogans and demanded immediate release of a youth who happens to be shopkeeper.

The locals identified the detained youth as Farooq Ahmad Laway who was arrested 3-4 days ago.

He is running a ready-made clothes shop at Verinag, they said.

Meanwhile, stone pelting reports reached from Nawpora in summer capital. Reports said that youths came out on roads this morning and started pelting stones on the forces deployed in the area while forces released pepper gas.

Notably, the government decided to lift curfew from Kashmir, except three places. However, there is no change in deployment of forces.
