Forces resorted to aerial firing and fired tear gas canisters and pellets to foil a scheduled pro-freedom rally in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Local sources said that the local populace had planned a pro-freedom rally in Chitroo area of Kremshore near Khan Sahib of Budgam.

“Forces came early morning and imposed curfew,” local sources said, “however, people came from adjoining areas to participate in the rally and clashes erupted.”

Such is the situation, sources said, “people have not been able to come out of their homes now.”

“Tear gas smoke has engulfed the local area,” the sources said.

They said that youth resorted to intense stone pelting while forces resorted to tear gas and pellet firing.
