Police detained Engineer Rasheed ahead of his proposed anti-army protest in front of Army garrison at Badambagh on Monday.

Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) spokesperson, Inam un Nabi, told Kashmir Life that a police party had gheroed Rasheed’s Jawahar Nagar residence early today.

“We had proposed protest at Badambagh at 11:30 AM,” Inam said, “we had planned to go to Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station to file complaint against army personnel accused of forcing people to Begaar.”

Inam further said that AIP had surveyed the areas where army forces people in to labour without pay and against their wishes. “We filed complaint with SHRC and CID had acceded to it,” Inam said.

“But police arrested Rasheed along with dozens of AIP activists and lodged them at Police Station Rajbagh,” he informed. He added that scores of AIP activists are raising anti-army and anti-‘Begaar’ slogans outside the Police Station as well.

The proposed protest against army by Rasheed comes in the wake “confession” of CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti that army forces people to work against their wishes.
