Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani was arrested by police when he marched towards 15 Corps Headquarter in Badambagh area of Srinagar where army’s 15 Corps is stationed.

The unified resistance leadership had planned a march towards 15 Corps headquarter to “tell army to vacate J&K”.

Reports said that walked out of his office-cum-residence at Hyderpora, an additional deployment of cops had already been made. Notably, Geelani is under house arrest and a police van with cops is stationed outside his residence.

“He tried to march towards 15 Corps of Indian army at Badambagh but police arrested Geelani sahab,” sources said, “he was whisked away in police jeep and lodged at Humhama Police Station.”

“Geelani was holding ‘Quit J&K’ letter which he intended to hand over to army commander posted in BB Cantt,” reports said.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was arrested late Friday night and lodged at sub-jail Chesma Shahi.
