Locals of the Prichoo area of Pulwama district Thursday said that the Army, paramilitary forces and police barged into their houses and ransacked the houses.

“They went berserk and the locals were therefore compelled to take refuge in rice fields to escape the wrath of forces,” a local told Kashmir Life over phone.

“People from other areas couldn’t come to our rescue since strict curfew was imposed in the area.”

On Wednesday, a “pro-freedom” was supposed to take place in the area. However, police used force to disrupt the rally which resulted in massive clashes.

Later, a youth was hit by pellets and succumbed in a Srinagar hospital.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here said that more than thirty thousand have assembled in Achan area of the district to participate in a “pro-freedom” rally to be held in the area.

Despite curfew, witnesses said that since early morning people came out of their houses and started marching towards Achan.

Similar reports came from Pachhar area of the district.
