Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Tuesday took detailed review of pace of work on major developmental projects being executed under core sectors in Islamabad District in a high level meeting of officers of district administration and engineers from various engineering wings at Dak-Bunglow Khanabal.

The meeting was informed that against an approved allocation of Rs 185.48 crore under District Plan for the year 2016-2017, an amount of Rs 41.84 crore have been made available against which an  amount of Rs 27.88 crore stands expended up to ending  July, 2016, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The meeting was informed, Under R&B Sector, 18 kms road length has been macadamized against the target of 72.42 Kms and 300 mtrs Pucca Drains were constructed against a target of 1284 mtrs.

The meeting was informed that the work on 7 bridges at Guree Kheripora, Steel trussed bridge at Pahalgam, Grider bridge at Lolipora, Foot bridge at Yakad Baroo Kapran, Steel decked foot bridge at Village Shupkainan, Wangam Taliwani bridge and steel girder bridge over Aripath Nallah on Dethu road is expected to be completed by this fiscal at an estimated cost of Rs 1198.41 crore on which Rs 451.91 crore stand expended so far.

The meeting was informed that, Under PHE Sector, 16 and 28 affected water supply schemes have been restored in PHE divisions Bijbehara and Qazigund respectively.

Under sanitation, 29.40 Mts of garbage has been lifted from Islamabad Town during last one month, the meeting  informed  and added that  Under MGNREGA, Rs 27.52 crore  have been utilized under wage  component against an available amount  of Rs 32.83 crore.

The Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs distributed 62766 Qtls of rice, 31.57 Qtls of sugar and 40000 LPG cylinders during last month under total requirement of 63418 Qtls of rice for Islamabad district, besides 48832 Qtls of rice and 401.91 Qtls of sugar was also distributed under MMSFES Scheme among consumers up to August 20, 2016.

Lauding the efforts made for providing services to the people by the Health and Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FS&CA)    Department during the prevailing situation, the Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the Engineering departments to redouble their efforts for ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply to the people.

He also directed Chief Education Officer, Islamabad to ensure the attendance of teachers and students in the schools.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner for holding periodical meeting with the district and sectoral officers on regular basis to review the pace of work on developmental projects and make sure the attendance of the employees in their respective offices.

Directing the officers of Forest department to keep vigil and ensure that no timber smuggling takes place in the district, the Divisional Commissioner also directed the I&FC department to start the drugging process of river of Jhelum and submit periodical reports to the Deputy Commissioner about the progress.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, ADC, Joint Director Planning, Chief Executive Officers of Pahalgam Development Authority, Kokernag Development Authority and Verinag Development Authority, SDMs of Pahalgam, Dooru, Kokernag, Chief Education Officer, Islamabad, SE, R&B, SE Hydraulic, SE PDD, Executive Engineers of PMGSY, PDD, PHE, and all Tehsildars, Executive Officers, Executive Officers of Municipality & other sectoral officers.
