Bar Association Kashmir has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court Saturday on the use of pellets guns by forces on protesters.

The petition has been sent to the chief justice of High Court for his decision whether the petition will be treated as PIL.

Bar Association President Mian Qayoom told KNS that the lawyers body has filed the PIL before the High Court for banning pellet guns on protesters.

“Since these pellets guns have caused grave injuries to youth and children. So we decided to file a PIL,” Mian Qayoom told KNS.

The Bar has made the home department, police, and medical authorities as party to the petition. The senior lawyer said that if the Chief Justice approves the petition as PIL, the first hearing will be likely on Monday.

State Advocate general Jahangir Iqbal Ganaie said that the Bar Association has filed the petition.

“The petition was filed in the afternoon, and it has been sent to the Chief Justice for his decision whether the petition will be considered as PIL before it is listed for court hearing,” he said.

The use of pellets guns by CRPF has been widely condemned and criticised following very critical eye injuries to youth and children in the on-going uprising.
