Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Thursday chaired a high-level meeting of officers to review the arrangements for Hajj 2016 being made by the State Hajj Committee here today.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Tourism, Director Health Services, Chief Engineers PHE and R&B, Commissioner SMC, General Manager JKSRTC, Director, Airport Authority of India, Srinagar, Commandant CRPF, SSP Traffic, Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Executive Officer, State Hajj Committee, Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, General Manager SRTC, Srinagar, representatives of JK Bank and State Bank of India and other officers, an official spokesperson said this evening.
While reviewing the arrangements and facilities being provided to the aspirant Hajj pilgrims of the state, the Divisional Commissioner was apprised that SRTC will provide 20 buses for transporting the pilgrims.
It was further informed that PHE department will install 2 dewatering pumps in Hajj House, while as electricity department will also install generator sets to supplement the power supply.
It was given to understand that all arrangements with regard to maintaining regular supply of electricity, drinking water, sanitation besides establishment of medical camp along with services of medical officers and ambulance would also be kept available in Hajj House Srinagar to facilitate the pilgrims.
The District Development Commissioners of all districts including Leh and Kargil through video conference informed that pilgrims training and vaccination programme has almost been completed in their respective districts.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed the Drug Controller to install a temporary medical shop at Hajj House and a medical counter at Air Port, Srinagar for the facilities of the pilgrims.
The Divisional Commissioner was informed that 6445 Hajj pilgrims will perform Hajj this year, for which the first batch in two flights will depart from Srinagar Airport to Madina on August 10, 2016. This process will continue till August 19, 2016.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all concerned to finalize all the arrangements well in time.
