Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice, Abdul Haq Wednesday called for greater synergy between the Law and other departments for better results.

He said the functioning of the law officers engaged by the Government would be reviewed regularly and the non-performers would be shown the door, an official spokesperson said this evening.

While taking a review meeting of the Law officers at civil secretariat here, the Minister impressed upon the officers to remain updated about the government cases and pursue their successful disposal.

“The understanding of Law officers of government cases and exploring possibilities taking the cases to the logical conclusion would give the government better results,” Abdul Haq told the meeting.

“The cases listed in courts in which government has been made a party should be pursued effectively,” Haq said.

He impressed upon the officers to remain up-to-date about their cases and maintain all the records. He asked the officers to work in coordination and bring synergy into the functioning as far as legal matters are concerned.

“Once you understand the cases well, you can plead them better before the Court. You should maintain high record of professionalism in your cases,” Haq said.

The meeting was attended by Advocate General, Jahangir Iqbal Ganai, Commissioner Secretary Law, Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Additional and Deputy Advocate Generals and other law officers, representing various government departments.

The Minister urged the Law officers to remain abreast about their cases and explore possibilities under the legal jurisprudence to plead the cases before the Courts effectively.

He said there was a greater need to bring the synergy between the Department of Law and other government departments for disposing off the cases in record time.

“Your work has to be of utmost clarity and you have to bring in synergy and cooperation for speedy and positive results,” Haq said.

The Minister interacted with the Law officers regarding their designated departments and sought detailed account of the work done.

He directed the officers to maintain the record and remain in close contact with the departments which they were representing as Law officers.

The Minister said he would look into the functioning of every Government department with the Law officers with regard to the legal matters and directed officers to collect all the record in time.
