District Development Commissioner, Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone Wednesday convened an officers meeting to review the preparedness for smooth conduct of August 15 Celebrations-2016, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned to gear up men and machinery well in advance and put all necessary arrangements in place as per past practice.

It was given out in the meeting that the main function would be held in Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar where tri-colour will be unfurled, followed by the march past comprising  the contingents of BSF, CRPF, JKP, JKAP, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Protection Forces, NCC cadets and  students would participate in the parade.

The function will start with the presentation of Shahnai wadan early in the morning.

The other arrangements which were discussed include security, seating arrangements, Medicare facility, drainage, power, drinking water, installation of PAS and other necessary arrangements.

Among other, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional S P Security, Joint Director Information, Kashmir and Chief Education Officer, Srinagar attended the meeting.

The spokesperson said that deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone today chaired a meeting of officers of various departments to review the arrangements and preparedness with regard to dewatering of water logged areas of Srinagar city.

Directing the concerned for taking immediate measures for ensuring dewatering of water logged areas of the city, the Deputy Commissioner also asked the PHE and PDD departments for ensuring availability of drinking water and electricity supply.

The meeting was informed that the departments are ready to meet any exigency.

Among others, officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, Power Development Department, Fire and Emergency Services, UEED and Public Health Engineering departments attended the meeting.

The official spokesperson added that District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash chaired a meeting of district and sectoral officers here today to review the pace of developmental projects under execution in district.

Taking sector-wise and project-wise detailed review of progress of various developmental projects, the DDC emphasized on the concerned for achieving the targets set for completion of on-going projects.

He also asked for maintaining close co-ordination between and within the department in order to get the desired results.

DDC said that 25 per cent authorization of last year allocation has already been communicated to the concerned executing agencies and should be utilized in full.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joint Director Planning SE PDD, SE R&B and various district and Sectoral officers attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner, Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash convened a meeting of officers of various Departments to review the availability of essential services and pace of developmental works being executed in the District.

 The District Development Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure attendance of employees in their respective offices so that the people do not face any problem.

He urged upon the concerned to restart the work on developmental projects and complete them within stipulated timeframe by gearing up their men and machinery.

The District Development Commissioner directed CA&PD Department to ensure that all the Government outlets and fair price shops remain open for the convenience of consumers.

Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner, SE R&B, SE, JDP, CMO, CEO and other senior officers of line departments attended the meeting.

The official spokesperson said that the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today issued directions to all the district officers for ensuring attendance of the employees in their respective offices so that effective public delivery is ensured.

The Deputy Commissioner issued these directions while chairing a meeting of officers convened here today to review the functioning of various departments.

Instructing the district officers to attend the offices regularly, the Deputy Commissioner asked that the departments would provide a contact number to the Deputy Commissioner office helpline so that in-charge officials could be contacted to address the public issues.

Reviewing the availability and distribution of essential commodities and other essential services, it was informed that 47809 quintals of rice and 2500 quintals of sugar was distributed at the fair price shops among the consumers.

A total of 42000 LPG cylinders were also distributed by the CA&PD department and six Gas agencies in the district during last 16 days.

The Deputy Commissioner asked Assistant Director, CA&PD to ensure that adequate quantity of ration is provided to consumers living in far off areas of the district.

He also directed to ensure supply of ration to the nomadic families living in Kokernag, Verinag and Pahalgam areas.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the Municipal areas especially around the hospital vicinity.

Taking stock of physical and financial progress achieved on the developmental projects approved by the District Development Board, the DC said that 25 percent funds have already been released for which the departments have to ensure proper utilization without any compromise on the quality of works.

He directed that departmental heads should ensure that works on all the developmental projects should be continuing ensuring their timely completion.

The DC directed Engineers of PHE departments to press into the service of water tankers to the areas where people are facing shortage of water.

The CEO Islamabad apprised that Government Schools are functioning smoothly in Qazigund, Shangus, Srigufwara and other areas.
