Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Wednesday expressed grief over the death of two children who were washed away in the flash floods at Janipura which lashed the Jammu district today.

The Deputy Chief Minister while sympathizing with the families of the children said that the Government would explore the ways and means of providing necessary assistance and help to them, an official spokesperson said this evening.

He also directed the officers to prepare a detailed report about the damages to the infrastructure due to incessant rains which lashed Jammu and its adjoining areas.

Dr Singh directed the officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation to take necessary steps to ensure that the water   is drained off from areas which have got submerged due to the rains and also ensure that the drainage and sewerage system of the city is also regulated.

The Dy Chief Minister also asked the officers of the different departments to synergize their efforts so that the damaged infrastructure and other essential services can be restored within shortest possible time.
