The Indian army based in Kashmir has started its own 3G mobile network.
This comes in the midst of complete communication black out in Kashmir when government has banned all private cellular companies from giving voice and internet services.
Srinagar based defence spokesperson in a statement issued on Tuesday forenoon said, “Indian Army’s first 3G Network ‘The Mobile Cellular Communication System (MCCS)’ was dedicated to the Chinar Corps on 25 Jul 2016 by Gen Dalbir Singh, Chief of Army Staff at Srinagar Old Air Field Garrison.”
The spokesperson said that MCCS is a cellular system and offers enhanced security, better voice quality and high data rates. “The Network has been envisaged to provide the troops of Chinar Corps with a potent Communication System to enhance battle field transparency,” the spokesperson added.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen DS Hooda, Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Satish Dua, Signal Officer-in-Chief Lt Gen Nitin Kohli and the Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd (CMD of BEL).
The Army Chief complimented everyone for the state of the Art Communication System, the spokesperson said.
