Fire engulfed a forest range in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Thursday.

Reports said that fire engulfed Hamnadi forest compartment number 55 and 56 of Pahalgam Range.

No official was available to give information about the incident.

Meanwhile, reports said that fire had engulfed Heerpora forest range on last Monday

Heerpora forest range covers wild life sanctuary compartment 15’ on Mughal road.

Since, Monday, fire continued even up to Wednesday which resulted in damages to hundred year old pine and fur trees.

Fire tenders were rushed trying to extinguish the fire.

Usually, forest fires are often triggered by carelessness of trekkers and by those who venture into forests to collect firewood.

The area hosts a number of wild animals including leopards and bears as the zone lies close to the residential area.
