The speakers at a seminar in capital city of Pakistan on Thursday called upon the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the “gross human rights violations” in Kashmir.

The seminar titled “Humanitarian Crisis in Indian Occupied Kashmir and International Response” was organized by Kashmir Institute of International Relations, Radio Pakistan reported this evening.

The speakers demanded early resolution of Kashmir issue in lines with the United Nations Security Council resolutions according to the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

The speakers representing all the major political parties of Pakistan and leadership of Pakistan administered Kashmir reiterated their resolve to continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the brethren of Kashmir in their just struggle to self-determination.

Leader of the House in Senate and PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq said that UN Security Council’s resolutions provide the best base to plead the Kashmir issue.

He said that there is need to strengthen this base and more work should be done to highlight the issue according to the UN resolutions.

“International media should be invited in Pakistan and appraised about the gravity of the situation in Occupied Kashmir through seminars and photo displays. The youth should be educated about the history of Kashmir issue,” he suggested.

Raja Zafarul Haq said that the government is effectively pleading Kashmir issue at the international fora. “A number of countries and international organizations have supported Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir.”

Pakistan People’s Party leader, Senator Sherry Rehman said, “India is involved in the genocide of Kashmiris. India cannot change the facts in Kashmir by illegal means. International conferences should be organized to highlight the Kashmir issue.”

Pakistan People’s Party leader, Senator Rubina Khalid said that the whole nation and all the political parties are with the Kashmiris in their just struggle above the party politics.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Senator Shibli Faraz demanded that all the “illegally” detained Kashmiri leaders should be released.

“India cannot suppress the voice of Kashmiris through the use of brute force,” he added.

Speaker ‘Azad’ Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir said that Kashmir issue is a political issue and it should be resolved in political ways.

He said that in 1999 United Nations passed a resolution regarding start of dialogue between Pakistan and India for the resolution of Kashmir issue after the nuclear tests by both the countries.

“This resolution should be first implemented that will pave way for the implementation of the earlier UN resolutions,” he observed.

A unanimous resolution was also passed on the occasion, expressing complete solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren of Kashmir.
