A suspected militant was killed in a “gun-fight” in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday, reports said.
The militant was killed in Warnow Lolab, around 100 km from Srinagar, The Tribune reported.
The gun fight broke in the wee hours of Monday when a joint team of police and army launched a search operation after an input about the presence of militants in the area.
“As the search was underway, militants fired at the joint party and it was retaliated, triggering an encounter. A militant who tried to break the cordon was killed in the gunfight,” the newspaper report quoting Kupwara Superintendent of Police Shamsher Hussain said.
The search operation is on.
