One BSF jawan was killed in alleged cross border firing in RS Pura Sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday late night.

BSF Head constable Sushil Kumar was hit by splinters on neck and shifted to Jammu hospital where he was declared brought dead, reports said.

Shushil Kumar sustained splinter injuries in upper part of chest while “retaliating the Pakistan fire”.

The International Border and Line of Control (LoC) are witnessing an increase in ceasefire violations since September.

He was immediately evacuated to Government Medical Collage with first aid where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

According to BSF officials, Pak troops allegedly targeted 13 border outposts and civilian areas along International Border in R S Pura, Pargwal and Kanachak sectors in Jammu using mortar shells and firing small arms.

Another BSF Jawan was injured in the firing and being treated at the Government Medical college. A local woman was also injured in the firing. Firing is still going on.

At least one civilian was injured when Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly opened fire in the Chuprar and Harpal sectors of the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations.

“The exchange of fire continues,” the ISPR statement said.

The statement added that Pakistan Rangers Punjab “befittingly responded to Indian BSF’s unprovoked firing”, the Dawn reported.
