Six leaders of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) including its president, who were detained here on Saturday after police foiled their meeting, were shifted to Kupwara and Baramulla sub-jails.

They were detained yesterday ahead of their scheduled meeting proposed to chalk out future strategy against action on the Government’s move to sack employees for participating in anti-government protests.

“The magistrate has granted seven days remand. All the detained employees were shifted to sub-jail Baramulla and Kupwara from police station Kothibagh,” sources told KNS.

Leaders who were shifted to sub-jail include EJAC president Abdul Qayoom Wani, EJAC spokesperson Farooq Trali, Fayaz Shabnum, Manzoor Ahmad Langoo and Tariq Ahmad Sofi.

Wajahat Durani, Fayaz Shabnum and Latief Ahmad and Latief Ahmad Malik are being shifted to Kupwara sub-jail while EJAC president Qayoom Wani, Aijaz Ahmad Khan and Sajad Ahmad Parray are being shifted to Baramulla sub-jail.

On August 22, this year, the EJAC leaders were detained and were later released on September 8. They were re-arrested after magistrate had bailed out them on September 1 and released on September 8, this year.

On October 22, the Jammu and Kashmir government suspended President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Abdul Qayoom Wani.

The orders in this regard were passed by the Commissioner Secretary school education department, Shalin Kabra.
