Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed grief over the killing of 18-year-old BA 1st Year student, Junaid Ahmad Mir of Narsullahpora Budgam “in indiscriminate shelling” by forces.

He paid tributes to the slain youth.

A statement issued by the Hurriyat Conference said that a delegation led by Hurriyat Conference member and Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) District President Budgam, Hakeem Ghulam Muhammad visited the residence of Junaid Ahmad Mir and expressed sympathy and solidarity with his parents on behalf of incarcerated Mirwaiz and said, “it is extremely painful to lose our young to the brutality of India again and again.”

Paying glowing tributes to the Martyrs of Bijbehara on their 23rd martyrdom anniversary, the Hurriyat Conference said, “people have been sacrificing their lives and livelihood since 1931, these sacrifices are the assets of our resistance movement, an inspiration for us to carry forward. Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessed a bloody history with innumerable massacres occurring in every part of the state yet the killers of these innocent were neither held accountable nor the so called inquiries ordered into the massacres borne any results till date.”

Condemning the brutal force used to sabotage the peaceful programs announced by the unified resistance leadership, the statement said, “the Indian government and its local collaborators, who are busy carrying out nocturnal raids and arbitrary arrests of the people should instead pay heed to the APHC’s suggestions of demilitarization from Kashmir, removing draconian laws like AFSPA, release all political prisoners, so that some kind of conducive atmosphere can be created for the resolution of the vexed Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolution or through a transparent and unconditional tripartite dialogue keeping in view the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, the Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson expressed concern over the deteriorating health of JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik and said, “it is shameful that government is even denying him medical aid.”

In a statement, meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (m) Media Adviser, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam Saturday expressed strong resentment against the ruling class for stopping journalists from performing their professional obligations and for highlighting state terrorism like killings of innocent civilians, oppression and suppression of the people, and gross human rights violations.

Condemning everyday harassment of Kashmiri media persons, creating hurdles in way of circulation and distribution of newspapers, ban on English daily ‘Kashmir Reader’, and harassment and torture of ‘JK News Now’ web portal’s editor, the APHC-m Media Adviser said media is considered to be the Fourth Estate or the fourth pillar of vibrant democracies and newspapers in Kashmir not only highlight the sufferings and sentiments of the people but also report about the ground situation and inform the readers across the world about it, which is not only satisfactory but also noteworthy.
