Eight structures were damaged in separate fire incidents across valley, said a police spokesperson on Saturday.

“Fire broke out in the residential house of Farooq Ahmad Dar at Nazuk Mohalla near Achabal Adda, Islamabd which engulfed nearby houses of Noor Ahmad Bhat, Alla Bhat, Asif Gull Bhat sons of Gull Mohammad Bhat, Reyaz Ahmad Reshi, Rayees Ahmad Sons of Ramzan Ahmad, Late Gh. Nabi Reshi, Manzoor Ahmad Magray, Mohammad Yousuf Magray, Javed Ahmad Magray Sons of Mohammad Ramzan and shop of Ashiq Hussain Guroo resident of New Qazibagh, resulting in damage to all the structures,” the statement reads.

The police said that cause of fire was due to leakage of LPG. “Fire was brought under control by fire tenders/ Police.” No loss of Life or injury was reported, it said.

Meanwhile in another incident at Akhal Kangan in Ganderbal, fire broke out in the residential house of Mohammad Samandar Sheikh, resulting in damage to the structure.  Fire was brought under control by fire tenders.

It added that in another incident, fire broke out in a workshop cum showroom belonging to Mohammad Muzaffar Khan resident of Sangri Colony Baramulla at Bus Stand Baramulla, resulting in damage to the structure. Fire was brought under control by fire tenders.

In another incident, the police press release added,  fire broke out in the shop of Adul Qayoom Khan resident of Iqbal Colony Baramulla at present Samad Complex main market Sopore, resulting in damage to the shop. Fire was brought under control by fire tenders. “However, no loss of life or injury was reported in these incidents.”
