The Himalayan region of Kashmir on Sunday witnessed complete black out as people switched off electricity lamps.

In the on-going mass uprising, the resistance leadership in its last protest calendar had asked people to observe black out from 8 to 9 PM this evening.

Reports coming from across Kashmir said that people switched off their lights in protest to the civilian killings and demanding “Right to Self Determination”.

In Srinagar’s Maisuma area, people, including children, elderly and women, took out a Mashaal march amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Those who were travelling in vehicles were asked to switch off the front lights and use the four-way colourful indicators.

At least 51 civilians were killed by forces since July 09, 2016 a day after popular militant commander, Burhan Wani, was killed in South Kashmir’s Kokernag area on July 08.

The united Hurriyat leadership on Sunday issued a new statement extending the shutdown program while calling fro Kulgam Chalo on Wednesday and Jamia Masjid Srinagar Chalo on Friday.

It was second time in last 16 days that Kashmir observed complete black out protesting against the civilian killings. Thousands were injured in bullet and pellet firing by forces since July 09, 2016.
