A paramilitary BSF man stabbed his colleague in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector and fled away from the post along with arms and ammunition, reports said on Sunday.

A Red alert has been sounded in Jammu to nab the BSF man identified as Constable Rajeev Ranjan.

As per reports at around 8 am, constable Rajeev Ranjan got into scuffle with another constable Rajbir Singh over some issue. Ranjan later stabbed Singh with a knife.

Reports said that Ranjan fled from the spot with one light machine gun (LMG) and about 10 magazines.

Meanwhile, an army man was killed by suspected militants as army foiled an alleged infiltration bid near Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, an army official said here on Saturday.

“Militants attempting to infiltrate (from Pakistan administered Kashmir) were intercepted by alert troops in the intervening night of July 22-23 which led to exchange of fire and forced the infiltrators to flee.

In the gun battle, one army man sustained injuries and unfortunately later succumbed,” the official said.

He said a search operation was launched soon after the encounter.
