An ambulance was ferrying bullet hit youth to Srinagar when it was attacked by forces in between Awantipora and Islamabad.

SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura director on Saturday issued an urgent appeal with regard to cancer patients. It is being reproduced here verbatim

All the cancer patients who are unable to reach SKIMS for Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy due to untoward circumstances are requested to contact their District Hospitals/sub-district Hospitals/Primary Health care centers for oral anticancer drugs.

The SKIMS authorities have taken up the matter with Director Health Services Jammu and Kashmir who would coordinate the availability of the following drugs from SKIMS Soura at these centers under his Administration.

  • Tamoxifen; Letrozole; Imatinib; Bicalutamide; Geftinib and Temozolamide.

Director Health Services Kashmir has also been requested to coordinate with regard to transport facilities for such patients who need in-hospital Cancer Care at SKIMS Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the SKIMS director said, “as you know there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of patients especially critically sick and trauma related due to prevailing adverse conditions managing which needs unrestricted movement of ambulances and other vehicles carrying hospital staff.”

The public and all shades of organizations are requested to cooperate with SKIMS staff and as always make  sure that the movement of ambulances and other vehicles is not affected anywhere.
