Deputy Commissioner Showkat Aijaz Saturday distributed 481 packs of rice and equal number of Daal packets among the poorest of the poor category of consumers in Kulgam town. Each pack carries 5 kg of rice.
The special ration dispensation was initiated on the directions of the Chief Minister in order to cater to the consumer needs of the downtrodden section in the obtaining situation, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Deputy Commissioner said around 1000 such special packs of rice will be distributed to the destitute section of the society so that nobody suffers on account of shortage of essentials.
