Barely 10 days after Crime Branch Jammu arrested former Secretary of Board of School Education (BOSE), Bashir Ahmad Dar in the infamous Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) scam, the Crime Branch Kashmir Monday arrested former BOSE Chairman, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad for his alleged involvement in the scam.

Sheikh was arrested by a team of sleuths from Kashmir. “At the moment, he is being questioning for his role in the scam,” an official part of the team told Kashmir Life.

Earlier Dar—said to be a “mastermind” in allotment of the ETT colleges in 2003 without adhering to any rules, regulations and norms—was arrested when he was trying to flee to Srinagar from Jammu.

Interestingly, ETT colleges had been allotted merely on applications without verifying requisite infrastructure.

After Dar’s arrest, some more arrests were on the cards.

CB Jammu has already arrested Sudershan Kumar Mahajan and Manish Suri, owners of two ETT colleges for their alleged involvement in the scam.

Earlier Sheikh Bashir Ahmad made it to front pages for his alleged role to benefit Peerzada Sayeed’s foster son’s act of unfair means in Class 10th examination in 2009.

After Dar’s arrest, CB had cracked whip on erring officials by conducting a series of raids at different offices of BOSE, in both capitals, and seized all records of the examination in question.

More arrests are likely to be made soon to expose the nexus, the CB officials said.
