A local court Tuesday quashed the detention of Hurriyat (g) activist under Public Safety Act and directed police to release him.

According to Advocate Bashir Ahmad Tak, Police had arrested Hurriyat (g) activist, Hafizullah Mir son of Late Ghulam Ahmad Mir, resident of Kokernag Islamabad, on charges of boycotting assembly elections in 2004, holding demonstrations in the year 2008, provoking youth for stone pelting in 2011, establishing district office of Hurriyat at Awkaf building in Islamabad on 4/11/2012, and also involved in speeches against government on different stages at different places.

He said that he had been booked by Islamabad Police under an FIR vide number 189/2015 under section 147, 148, 149, 307, RPC. Detention order was passed on January, 27, 2016.

Meanwhile, he said that Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir quashed his detention under PSA and directed police to release him. Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak pleaded the case of Hafizullah Mir. (KNS)
