A policeman, posted at house of Minister for R&B Altaf Bukhari, has fled away along with two rifles at Sheikh Bagh in Srinagar city.

Official sources said that constable, Naseer Ahmad Pandith of 11th bn JKAP, son of Ghulam Rasool of Kareem Abad Pulwama went missing from the police post guarding the minister’s residence along with two AK 47 rifles and two magazines from the guard room last night.

Official sources said that Naseer fled with three youths who are said to have been waiting for him in nearby locality.

Naseer was recruited into police in 2007.

Police has registered a case and started further investigation along with army and paramilitary forces into the incident.

A high level meeting of officers was convened to discuss the issue threadbare and formularize strategy to nab the cop.

Meanwhile, police have issued an alert, asking all security establishments across the Valley to remain vigilant for any possible attack.

When contacted Director General of Police K. Rajendra confirmed the incident and said that investigations have been launched into it. “We are looking for him at all possible places,” he added. (GNS)
