Congress Candidate Hilal Ahmad Shah Saturday filed nomination papers for Islamabad assembly constituency.

JKPCC Chief G A Mir was present on the occasion, a Congress statement said this evening.

The Islamabad assembly constituency fell vacant after former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed died in AIIMS New Delhi on January 07, 2016.

Shah will be, most probably, fighting sitting Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti in the elections.

Addressing a public gathering, he urged upon them to work tirelessly to “ensure the victory of Hilal Ahmad Shah”.

“Congress Party believes in democratic process and shall continue to strengthen the democratic and other institutions benefitting people from the grass roots level,” he said.

Criticizing the PDP-BJP Coalition for “failing” to respect the urges and aspirations of the people, PCC Chief said, “due the wrong policies and utter failures, PDP finds it difficult to face the electorates, for the fact, the promises made with people by the PDP-BJP Coalition have remained unfulfilled, the misrule and wrong policies of the PDP-BJP Coalition in the State has added miseries to the people, as a result people in all the three regions have lost faith in this regime.”

“Congress Party stands guarantee to overall development of the State and the Party shall continue to serve the people, for the fact, Congress Party represents urges and aspirations of the people fully,” he claimed.
