Representatives of Kashmir Trade Union on Tuesday held a meeting with Provincial President National Conference Nasir Aslam Wani at Nawa-i-Subah to apprise the NC leader of the problems faced by them.

The meeting which lasted for more than two hours discussed the issues concerning the trading community, artisans and other in the wake last year’s devastating floods, a party statement said this evening.

The NC leaders were informed how the government has turned its back on the traders and failed to address their problems.

The issue of the casual and adhoc appointees in power, health and rural development departments also came in for the threadbare discussion during the meeting.

The trade union representatives informed the NC leader that due to non-serious approach by the government due to which they were suffering badly on the economic front and their source of earning had taken a hit.

The delegations recalled the various initiatives taken by the NC led governments over the years for the benefit and welfare of the artisans, traders and employees. “Sher-i-Kashmir was the first one to implement pay commission in the state. And his successors in Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah followed his footsteps in keeping the interests of employees, traders and artisans first,” Nasir A Wani said.

NC leadership assured the delegations that it would continue to strive for their welfare and address their genuine grievances. It decried the apathy of the incumbent government towards their genuine demands.
