The Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti Friday again visited the site of Maharaja Hari Singh Park here to personally take stock of the follow-up action on the directions issued by her during her previous visit to the area last week.

The Chief Minister had, during her visit to the park site on June 24 ordered immediate clearing of the garbage from river Tawi near the site of the upcoming park, an official spokesperson said this evening.

Vice-Chairman Jammu Development Authority, Mubarak Singh informed the Chief Minister that the major portion of the garbage has been cleared from the area and the men and machinery are on the job to make the whole patch of the river near the park site garbage free.

The Chief Minister asked the VC JDA to ensure that the area around park site is clean and no garbage is dumped there.

On enquiring about the progress of the work on the park, the Chief Minister was informed that it will be completed within six months and besides a walking track, the park will have a coffee shop-cum-library and special ladies corner.

She called for expediting work on the park so that the people of Jammu can get another recreational and outing facility on the banks of the river traversing the winter capital. “I want the work to be completed on this park at the earliest,” she said.

VC JDA informed the Chief Minister that Rs 75 lakh are being spent on earth-filling and landscaping of the park including turfing, laying of flower beds and plantation.

Pertinently, the Chief Minister during her earlier visit to the park site on June 24 had expressed dismay over the heaps of garbage lying unattended in the Tawi river bed adjacent to the upcoming public park.

The Chief Minister had called for immediate disposal of the garbage to keep the river clean and had told the concerned authorities that she will again come to the park site on her next visit to Jammu to personally review what follow-up action has been taken.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister this morning deputed her Principal Secretary, Navin Kumar Choudhary to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu to personally take stock of the directions given by her to Principal GMC Jammu on her visit to the hospital on June 24 regarding cleaning and maintenance of the hospital premises.

The Chief Minister during her visit to the hospital on June 24 had expressed dismay over the unattended garbage lying in the hospital premises.

The Principal Secretary to CM was asked to compile an action taken report on the follow-up action taken by the GMC authorities on the directions of the Chief Minister regarding maintenance of the hospital premises.
