Intense clashes erupted in Nowhatta area post Friday congregational prayers today.
Reports and eye witnesses said that soon after prayers ended, youth resorted to intense stone pelting on the forces stationed in the area.
Amid heavy pro-freedom slogans, the youth engaged forces in ding-dong battles.
Forces resorted to heavy tear gas shelling to disperse the groups of protesting youth while it also released pepper gas in the area.
Hurriyat (g) chairperson had called for protests this Friday post congregational prayers against the detention of youth and separatist activists.
