A boy died after he consumed some poisonous substance in Kupwara while a dead body was recovered in the district, police said.

A 15 years old boy (name withheld) resident of Kachama, Kralpora in District Kupwara consumed some poisonous substance at his home. The boy was shifted to SKIMS Soura where he breathed his last. After completion of legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites, J&K Police spokesperson said in a statement Thursday evening.

Police said it recovered a male body from the forest area near Kuligam Nard, Lalpora. The body was identified as Mamdin Khatana, son of Baru Khatana, resident of Kuligam.

The deceased was missing from his home from 02-05-2016. After completion of legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites. A case was registered in this regard to ascertain the cause of his death.

Meanwhile, ten persons injured in road accidents across valley, police said.

In Kulgam, a truck bearing registration number JK02R-9071 turned turtle at toll post, Qazigund resulting in injuries to the driver. The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment.

A Tavera bearing registration number JK03E-4401 hit a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK12Q-6537 at Jawahar Tunnel, resulting in injuries to motorcyclist. The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment.

In Islamabad, a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK03-8604 turned turtle at Naninard near Railway Station Crossing Hassanpora, resulting in injuries to four passengers including the driver of the vehicle. All the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

In Bandipora, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK05D-3403 turned turtle at Halwadi Gujjar Pati in the jurisdiction of Police Station Aragam, resulting in injuries a passenger and the drive of the vehicle. Both the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

In Sopore, a vehicle bearing registration number JK05A-9654 hit and injured two pedestrians identified as Mohammad Amin Bhat and Abdul Gani Wagay residents of Wadoora at Seelu. Both the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.
