Member Parliament and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, has deeply condoled the death of three innocent civilians and injury to many others in continued shelling from across the border in RS Pura and Arnia sectors in Jammu district.

In her message, Mehbooba Mufti said the border skirmishes have brought untold miseries upon the people, in particular those residing near the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC), an official statement said Friday.

Making an appeal for ending bloodshed of innocent people residing near the borders, the PDP President called for an immediate meeting of the DGMOs of the two countries to sort out the issue amicably so that lives of innocent civilians, including women and children who are under virtual siege from the past several months, are safeguarded.

Terming as unfortunate the cancellation of NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan, Mehbooba Mufti said the meeting was supposed to discuss critical issues like cross-border shelling and terrorism. “The need of the hour is for leaders from both sides to rise to the level of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statesmanship to resolve all issues cordially,” she stated.

The PDP President conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls. She also asked the Divisional Administration to provide advance medical treatment to those who have been injured in the shelling.
