Basharat Bukhari, former revenue minister, who had put in his papers on Friday, had a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday. It last for two hours.

Confirming the meeting, Bukhari told Kashmir Life that it was a detailed meeting. “I met her. I discussed very political issues raised in the communication I had sent her (read resignation),” Bukhari said. “I very much discussed important governmental issues, I discussed important party related issues and I also discussed some personal issues,” Bukhari said. He refused to offer any idea if it was a “way forward.”

The meeting was initiated by Chief Minister who had invited him for a meeting. Bukhari flew to Srinagar after his resignation on Friday, when in mini-cabinet reshuffle, he was pushed out of Revenue and asked to take over as horticulture department.

In the last two days there have been efforts at various levels to get the minister – the other being Irman Ansari, to withdraw their resignations. Initially, the Chief Minister was reportedly considering sending resignations to Raj Bhawan but it was stopped later.

Government spokesman Naeem Akhter had stated that the resignations were part of the family issues which would be settled. However, Basharat Bukhari does not agree. “I do not know what family he is talking about,” Bukhari told Kashmir Life. “I have nothing to do with his family.”

Earlier, Bukhari had a detailed meeting with top PDP leaders including Sartaj Madani, Abdul Haq Khan and Mohammad Rafi Mir. They had requested him to withdraw the resignation and resume his routine. Bukhari’s meeting with Ms Mehbooba Mufti is stated to be a follow up to this meeting.
