The Jammu and Kashmir Anganwadi workers and helper’s union on Wednesday staged protest at press enclave Srinagar against the privatization approved by government.

The protestors alleged that the Govt does not have belief in its own workers and thus privatization.

The protestors were shouting the slogans “we want justice”, “stop privatization”, “Aik Katouri, dou samosa Mehbooba tera kya baroosa”

Hajira, an Anganwadi worker said, “Its shame for this govt that they privatize the Aanganwadi centres. The govt doesn’t believe in its own workers who are working with the department for last 20 years.”

“We are almost 61000 employees who demand justice”, Naseema an Anganwadi worker said.

She said that the Anganwadi workers are paid Rs 7000 to 10000, but here in our state we are paid Rs 600 rupees for last 20 years.

The protestors said that they besides doing the Anaganwadi work, we also perform election duties, examination duties and much more, but are never paid for the extra work.
