Army spokesperson Wednesday said that acting on a specific input, a joint party of army and police launched a search operation Tuesday in a forested area near village Mugalpura, approximately 8km from Kupwara town, resulting in recovery of a “huge cache of arms, ammunition and warlike stores”.

“Acting on a specific input, a hideout with large quantity of warlike stores in the forested area of Gund Gushi in the near vicinity of village Mugalpura, Army and Police immediately launched a joint search operation in the morning of 28 July 2015,” the army spokesperson said in a statement.

Concerted search of the area was carried out, he said.

“At around 0815 AM on 28 July 2015 a hideout was unveiled under the trunk of tree resulting in to recovery of 1 AK 56 Rifle, Pika Belt without rounds, 1 Chinese pistol, 7 UBGL Grenades, 2 Pakistani Grenades, 2 Smoke Grenades, 1 Chinese Grenade, M-16 Rifle Rounds – 54 and 2 Radio Sets.”
