Police on Saturday recovered a body of an abducted youth from Kellar area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official sources told GNS that a youth Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad of Karewa Manloo village was abducted by some masked gunmen last evening.

Panic gripped in the Karewa Manloo village soon after the news about the abduction of the youth spread in the area, they said.

Today morning, the family and the relatives of the abducted youthlaunched searches in adjoining villages for his whereabouts, they said.

At around 8:00 am some locals spotted the body of the youth along the road side at Dairoo village, they said. “The locals immediately informed the Sarpanch about the body”.

The Sarpanch accordingly, informed the local police who immediately reached the spot and taken the body alongwith for postmortem, they said.

A police official while confirming the recovering of the body of a youth and said that the Khan was received bullet in his chest and had died instantly.

A case under FIR no. 57/2014 u/s 302 RPC and 7/27 IA Act was registered in this regard and further investigations have been taken up, the official said.

He said that preliminary investigations revealed that the youth was killed after abducted by some local masked militants from his home last evening.

Pertinently, three JeM militants and two army men, including an officer, were killed onApril 26 this year during an encounter in the same village Karewa Manloo in the district. (GNS)
