After writing to J&K Assembly speaker, former Army chief General VK Singh on Thursday failed to appear before the privilege committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council for his disputed remarks on state ministers being paid by the Army.

In December 2012, the privilege committee of the upper house of Jammu and Kashmir’s legislature had asked Singh to appear before it on January 9, 2014.

Pertinently Singh had created a stir when he revealed in September 2012 that ministers in Jammu and Kashmir had been beneficiaries of Army’s secret funds.

Singh earlier wrote to state Legislative Assembly Speaker Mubarak Gul who had issued him a notice in November last year.
