Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar Monday informed the Legislative Council that 146 Higher Secondary Schools have been notified as Chief Minister’s Model Schools in various districts of the state adding that the scheme was launched last year.

Replying to a question by Yash Pal Sharma, the Education Minister said the infrastructure of model schools is being developed in a phased manner.

He said these model schools have been adopted by the legislators, corporate bodies, banks as well as universities.

The Minister said the funds are provided under state Capex Budget and for the current financial year an amount of Rs 4 lakh each has been provided these model schools.

The minister said, the soft interventions are carried out without much fund commitment and the infrastructure requirement for these schools will be met over the years.

He said simultaneously, funds through ICT under RAMSA have been made available to these model schools.

Legislators Vibodh Gupta and Surinder Mohan Ambardar raised   supplementary questions to the main question.
